Working to bridge the wealth gap in dance by supplying scholarships and financial assistance to dancers from economically disadvantaged backgrounds; ensuring access to elite competitions and world-class choreography for youth who would otherwise be excluded. ❋
Dance. for. everyone.
Our mission
Competitive dance has one of the highest financial barriers to entry of any youth art form, and most families never hear about it until they are already locked out. We are here to change that. Through scholarships, financial support, community partnerships, and access to elite-level training, we give talented dancers the tools to compete, grow, and be seen, regardless of what their families can afford.
Passion Programs
We believe every dancer deserves a shot at the stage, regardless of their financial status. Our Direct Support program provides financial assistance directly to dancers, covering competition fees, costumes, and travel assistance.
❋ DIRECT SUPPORT
Our Community Outreach program brings us directly into the neighborhoods, schools, and studios where talented dancers are growing up, making sure they know support exists, and that it was made for them.
❋ COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Proper training shouldn't be a privilege. Our Education & Awareness program brings elite-level workshops and master classes to dancers who've been unfairly excluded, while raising the larger conversation about why that exclusion exists in the first place.
❋ EDUCATION & AWARENESS
Hi, I’m Leela!
I’m a 16-year-old junior in high school, who began dancing at the age of three and began competing at the age of nine. Growing up in the competitive dance world has never been easy, not only because I was often the only black girl in a predominantly white space, but because I was one of the few without the financial privilege most of my peers took for granted.
However, without my mother’s advocacy, I would’ve never been able to dance at an elite level. She fought tooth and nail to get me scholarships, financial assistance, costume discounts, etc. My parents sacrificed their livelihood to support my siblings’ and my passions.
Nonetheless, the majority of kids do not have someone who can advocate for them, for example, most parents work long hours or have demanding jobs, making it virtually impossible to sign their kids up for an unaffordable dance team. It brings to my attention how many kids out there are so talented and passionate about dance, yet were never able to pursue it, especially at a high level.
Therefore, I want to advocate for the young dancers out there, like me, who come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them the opportunity they deserve. No one should be robbed of the opportunity to follow their calling and live their passion. Dance should not be exclusive. Dance is for everyone.
